Ancient Egyptians followed Hinduism. Exact concepts with a little different stores, but same concept.
Ancient Egyptians worship "RA" - THE SUN GOD.
RA is a sanskrit word meaning - Sun
The avatar of Vishnu RAMA is named after Sun and Moon.
RA = He is radiant like Sun
MA = He is as pleasant as Moon
Rama comes from lineage of Sun God "RA" according to hinduism.
Rama's son Kush established Egyptian culture. That's why all Pharaohs consider themselves as SON OF SUN (like RAMA)
AFTER LIFE IN HINDUISM:
If one dies, his sins are judged by Yama. Chitragupta looks at all your accounts. Yama determines whether your heart is good or sinned. Then you are sent to Hell and Rebirth or to Heaven and God.
To get to God, your soul has to cross VIRAJA river.
Yama's history - YAMA is the first human to have attained death. His twin sister YAMI (Goddess of Yamuna River) cried so much that her tears resurrected YAMA and he was made the GOD OF THE UNDERWORLD (or Yamaloka). Underworld because some are buried and some are burnt and all happens on earth and mixes with earth.
AFTER LIFE IN ANCIENT EGYPTIAN:
In ancient Egyptian culture - OSIRIS gets murdered and cut into pieces by his brother Set. His sister and wife ISIS resurrects him and has a son Horus through his resurrection.
Horus kills Set and OSIRIS becomes the God of the underworld.
When an Egyptian dies, his soul goes to underworld.
There he is judged in front of 42 judges.
The judges weight his heart against a feather of Justice
If his heart is heavier than the justice, his heart will be eaten by a crocodile and he does not enter the good life after death (in this case it is heaven)
If this heart is equal to the weight of feather of justice, his soul has to cross a river to reach OSIRIS
SAME CONCEPT AS HINDUISM with a slight change or localized to make more sense.
SIMILARITIES between YAMA and OSIRIS:
1. Judges of the Dead : Both deities serve as the ultimate moral judges in the afterlife. Yama weighs a soul's karma using the cosmic ledger of Chitragupta, while Osiris weighs a soul's heart against the feather of Ma'at (truth and justice).
2. The First to Die: In their respective mythologies, both figures pioneered the path to the afterlife. Yama was the first mortal to die, establishing the realm of the departed. Osiris was a king who was murdered and resurrected, becoming the first mummified being and the ruler of the dead.
3. Solar Heritage: Both are directly tied to the sun. Yama is the biological son of the Hindu sun god, Surya. Osiris is traditionally considered the grandson or a manifestation of the Egyptian sun god, Ra.
4. Iconography & Skin Color: Both are depicted in ancient art with symbolic, non-human skin tones. Yama is often shown with dark blue or jet-black skin (representing time and cosmic depth). Osiris is famously depicted with green skin (representing rebirth and vegetation) or black skin (representing the fertile soil of the Nile and the afterlife)
5. The Mourning Sister/Wife: Both have prominent myths involving a grieving female counterpart whose tears create life. When Yama died, his twin sister Yami (Yamuna) wept so intensely that her tears created the sacred Yamuna River. When Osiris was killed, his sister and wife, Isis, wept so profoundly that her tears caused the annual flooding of the Nile River.
